We are a team of volunteers
actively rescuing sick
and injured animals.
A charity project to help homeless cats and a cat coworking space in Belgrade.
— To dispel the myth that a shelter is a sad place where animals live out their lives in cages, and to foster friendships between human sand cats.
Currently, 10+ cats need help —
foster care, treatment,
and a loving home

1. SHOES OFF!
At PurrMacka, we wear slippers or shoe covers. This is the cats' co-chilling zone — and in this home, they lounge around on the floor and sniff slippers. No outdoor shoes allowed.
2. ENTRY ZONE = BUFFER ZONE.
Please don’t let the cats into the entry area — it’s meant for changing shoes and acts as a barrier between cozy cat-chilling and the harsh outside world.
3. STICK TO THE VISITOR AREA!
Visitors are welcome only on the first floor. The lower level is off-limits — it’s a rest zone, a quarantine area, and a volunteer space.
4. NO HARASSING THE CATS.
If they want attention — they’ll come to you. Trying to pet or poke them with a toy can scare them off. Don’t wake sleeping cats — would you like that?
5. NO OUTSIDE TREATS.
Don’t feed cats your own snacks. We carefully choose what they eat to keep them healthy. If you use our treats — use them sparingly.
6. KIDS MUST BE SUPERVISED.
We love kids of all ages! But children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult and receive a safety briefing from our team. No pulling tails or tight hugs, even if your child is adorable.
7. KEEP IT LOW-KEY.
No yelling or loud fun. Quiet joy only, please.
8. PHOTOS? NO FLASH.
No one enjoys a spotlight in their eyes — neither do cats.
9. LISTEN TO OUR STAFF.
The administrator is always here to help and guide you.
10. HAVE A GREAT TIME!
Chill, work, relax — just no bad vibes allowed.

FIV+ cat with glitches but no brakes
Biba wasn’t just a cat — he was an apocalypse survivor. Picked up with brothers Boba and Buba.
He turned out to be FIV+, and then got panleukopenia, a deadly disease for most cats.
It was hell: injections, vets, IVs, round-the-clock fear. But we pulled him back. Now he shakes like a partygoer at a techno festival, but he’s alive.
His brothers got adopted quickly. Biba stayed — sick, twitchy, but full of love. Many overlooked him. But finally someone saw his personality, not his diagnosis.
Now he’s home. His name is Chibi. He has his own pillow, his own bowl, his own human.
And though his head like he's at a rave, his life is steady and good.

A cat with a "don't touch me" face and a "hug me" heart
Murka is kind of bipolar.
She could cuddle and hiss at the same time — like she couldn’t decide whether she loved you or wanted to kick your ass. Affectionate but skittish, she activated full "stay back, I bite" mode when scared.
She needed very special humans — no kids, no other pets, endless patience. Those who passed her test were rewarded with a stunning cat with Puss in Boots' Cute Eyes from Shrek and big mob boss energy and mob boss energy.
We remember her well — not just because we miss her, but because a true menace of the neighborhood. We took her to the vets, talked to a behaviorist, and found her off-switch. And she found her forever home.
Recently we got photos — she’s a queen now. Relaxed face. Proud posture. Her humans? Slightly tense… but loving. And we’re proud too. We didn’t give up on her. We pulled her through. And it was worth it.
Murka
This former criminal purrs like an innocent.
And he is!
On April 3rd, Sirius Black was caught and jailed — accused of attacking a rat.
He had a blocked nose, wheezed like a broken harmonica, and had a cloudy eye. With treatment, antibiotics, and rest at "St. Mungo’s," he got better — he can breathe again (though he still wheezes)
That’s a story as old as time: a scary killer turned out to be — he’s an affectionate, gentle sweetheart. A bit rough around the edges, but human-friendly, loyal and loving. And he’s looking for a home!
Thinking of adopting? This is your sign. This isn’t Grim. It’s good luck.

Who says charity can’t be fun (or meow-themed)?
Normal people spend Monday nights groaning on the couch, thinking "here we go again". But not you. You came to Cat Quiz Night, cracked jokes, won prizes, guessed weird facts, and forgot it was almost Tuesday (which, let’s be honest, isn’t much better).
We teamed up with the amazing QuizHeroes — you guys are gold. And yes, we did it to raise money for our cats — and that the food was actually good. And so that their co-chilling space didn’t look like a creepy dungeon but like a small yet presentable living room in a typical local apartment.
And guess what?

You donated 103,350 dinars.
That’s 103 thousand and change — thanks to YOU. That’s more food, more clean litter, less panic, and more hope.
Thank you for playing, laughing, donating, supporting. You made miracles happen. Will we do it again? You bet. Stay tuned. The cats remember everything — except grudges.
Cat Quiz with QuizHeroes
Then it got even weirder.

By the Church of the Transfiguration, another kitten appeared — like a prophecy.
Next to a dirty carrier, stinky rags, no food… and a third kitten, screaming. Hrjupa.
Thus, Lupa, Pupa, and Hrjupa were united. A glorious trio of little chaos goblins. They ate like beasts, ran on walls, and fought every blood test. But we lived to tell the epic tale of their deworming — shoutout to our fearless volunteers.
And most importantly:
Despite their rocky start, each of these troublemakers found a home. Now they are main characters in someone else’s stories lounge on beds, rattle their food bowls, and act like tiny emperors. A fairy tale ending. With teeth and claws.

Resurrected on a balcony — bathed in a tub
Alina, one of our volunteers, was heading home exhausted, carrying a cat from the vet. All she dreamt about was a good long sleep, but destiny had other plans. Very loud meowing plans to be exact. She looked down from the balcony and saw a tiny furball on the -1 floor that had somehow appeared by a pure miracle — there were no people around and no real explanation how it got there.
So she engineered a lift using a box and string, lowered it, and the furball climbed in. At 18:57, the whole team was watching live as she scrubbed the kitten’s butt. Volunteer Sasha took in the first one for temporary foster care. By 22:16, a second clone appeared — identical. Alina was back in the bathroom, washing another tiny rear.
To be continued…

We found heroes disguised as kids' party entertainers!
This event was so heartwarming we’re still buzzing. Huge thanks to everyone who came, supported us with money, pancakes, soap bubbles, or just good vibes. We laughed, painted, ate, sniffed (soap), and shopped from amazing makers.
Who was there?
– Vendors selling stickers, pins, ceramics — everything joyful and wallet-breaking.
– Kids hyped up on markers, contests, and sugar.
– Pancakes — lots at first, then none at all.
– Volunteers running around like crazy but smiling like they were paid (they weren’t).
– And YOU — our best guests ever.
Shoutout to every single participant!
We raised 19,100 dinars — used for repairs at our cat coworking space. Because cats don’t just need food and litter — they deserve comfort and cleanliness, too. Will we do it again? 100%. With more pancakes, more bubbles, and more cats

From street fighter to couch potato!
Shelby was a true seasoned baddie. He crawled up to our volunteer Alina with half an ear, one eye, and a bleeding stump instead of a tail. He feared people — especially men — and kept his distance.
But we decided to catch him anyway. And we did — barehanded. Alina got scratched up, but Shelby was saved. He was taken to Pančevo, where he recovered at a "cat sanatorium" and slowly turned into a plump, peaceful loaf.
He faced it all: fire, water, and medical equipment. After surgeries to clean the eye, remove the tail, and tune up his "Fabergés," he he regrew fur on his booty and healed up.
Turns out this 'corgi cat' is not a coward, but a picky snob. He’s not afraid of men, but prefers ladies — a proper ladies' man!
Mister Pink Paws is gentle, clings like a heating pad, purrs like a motor and loves cuddles.
And yes — Shelby found his forever home with his very own human, a pair of caring hands and a cozy house. A happy ending, just like it should be.
